Earlier this month, Microsoft Malaysia held the 2021 Microsoft Malaysia Partner Awards, celebrating their top partners for the success they had in empowering local organisations through technology. We are honoured to announce that Aware Group was named Azure Partner of the Year for Microsoft Malaysia!
We have been investing our effort and expertise into Malaysia since 2018, so it makes us proud to be recognised by one of our most important partners for the hard work and dedication that we have put into our customer’s projects within the nation. A large portion of our work last year in the region was in executing wide-reaching programmes to educate local organisations on emerging technologies, demonstrating leadership in our project work for large accounts, and producing a large number of net new customers for both Aware Group and Microsoft.
We’re beyond grateful to our outstanding customers and partners in Malaysia for being patient and understanding during a year filled with uncertainty. It’s already a challenge working in a remote time zone – late nights become the norm and the commitment to projects becomes greater than it normally is in New Zealand. But COVID-19 made fostering success in our Malaysian projects even more difficult.
It was a learning curve getting used to supporting our projects in Asia in a remote environment, but as with almost every organisation across the globe, we adapted to work in new ways, and our customers adapted with us. We can’t wait to come back to Malaysia when restrictions lift and engage with our customers and partners in person!
It was the first year since the pandemic began that the Partner Awards were able to be held in person. While we weren’t able to join in on the celebrations, we’re so glad that our friends in Malaysia got to come together and celebrate the work that all of Microsoft Malaysia’s partners put in last year.
The awards were presented to partners “based on their dedicated use of Microsoft technologies to provide solutions for their customers’ needs.” Our mission has always been to provide our customers with ethical and sustainable solutions that deliver ongoing value and inspire innovation. By utilising Microsoft technologies such as Azure, we have been able to do just that in Malaysia and the rest of APAC.
Our work in Malaysia
As one of Microsoft’s preferred partners in the Asia-Pacific region for Data and Artificial Intelligence, we’ve been contributing our comprehensive expertise of Microsoft Azure to businesses within Malaysia for years. From helping one of the world’s largest firms scale their internal AI capability in Malaysia to assisting financial organisations and a key energy supplier in the region, we’ve been able to engage with a multitude of businesses – producing top-notch solutions and mentoring organisations on how they can be utilising their data.
In 2021, however, our main focus was not only on individual projects with our customers, but also on upskilling Malaysian organisations and improving their understanding and abilities when it comes to emerging technologies. We designed and executed new programmes in partnership with Microsoft, resulting in a large revenue increase for both of us as well as the betterment of local businesses.
One of the most prominent of these programmes was a business-focused data stewardship and data governance webinar that we executed with several companies in Malaysia. Held weekly, this programme covered different aspects of data stewardship and governance – helping businesses understand the value of data and why we need to take care of it.
Working in hand with Microsoft, we helped build acumen in data stewardship and governance in organisations across Malaysia. The programme, designed and driven by Aware Group, provided immense value in educating businesses on what incredible things they can do with their data. Whether it was showing them how data can be used hand-in-hand with AI or expressing how data can be used in a predictive manner, the outcomes of the programme for these organisations were transformative.
At Aware Group, a big part of our business is about educating and inspiring our customers in all things emerging tech. We want to use our expertise to lead and mentor our customers, helping them gain skills and insights on emerging technologies and supporting them in utilising that technology to transform their organisations.
So, in the coming months, we will be announcing the release of a new training and workshop platform that encompasses all of our educational services, with the goal of improving the capabilities that organisations have in the fields of data science, Artificial Intelligence, advanced analytics, and more. We can’t wait to share more with you soon about this exciting endeavour.
Along with aiding Microsoft in supporting organisations throughout Malaysia via workshops and new programmes, we also demonstrated leadership in the country when it came to projects surrounding emerging technologies. With a history of working with companies such as Maxis, AIA, and Malaysia Airlines, we’ve long been supporting Malaysian organisations in their digital transformation journey, and it’s crucial to us that the solutions we produce for our customers are innovative, revolutionising the way that they operate.
“As more businesses set their sights on newer technologies such as cloud and AI, the need for innovation is critical to ensure long term growth and success. As a company that believes in delivering sustainable solutions to all its customers, we are proud to partner with Microsoft and to build our solutions on the Azure platform. Being awarded Azure Partner of the Year is a wonderful acknowledgement of the great work being done by our team and we hope to continue the momentum in 2022 and beyond.” – Jourdan Templeton, Chief Technology Officer.
Malaysia and the broader Asia-Pacific region are vital to us as a company, and we will continue to invest more and more into the region over the next several years. While we’re only able to support our customers there remotely for now, we’re planning to be able to be back in person very soon and to continue to establish our presence in this increasingly important region for digital development.
Thank you again to Microsoft Malaysia for recognising us and the work we do, and thank you to all of our magnificent partners and customers in the region for continuing to work with us on innovating your organisations. We look forward to seeing what transformative solutions we can bring to Malaysia this year, and we hope to be seeing you at next year’s Partner Awards!
